Those words were left on this world by Calamity Jane, a colorful frontier woman. Her story is riddled with whiskey, rifles, and heroism. This rowdy woman earned her nick name for being one tough cookie and holding her own in a time era where men very much ruled the ways of the world.
This quote is printed on the front of our showcase t-shirt this year because I have to say... I have many different kinds of girls and young women that will be performing this Saturday; outspoken, quiet but confident, creative, shy but eager, sassy to the max, and sensitive and caring... but they are all LEGENDS.
I have challenged them, been patiently working on their choreography, celebrated their success stories, empathized with their disappoints, and want them to see the potential that is within them if they just take the time to dedicate themselves to that awesome inner strength.
Simply put, I'm proud of each of my dancer's progress this year and this blog post is just to praise them for their hard work. Our showcase will be a great night filled with smiles that won't stop and bittersweet tears because my beautiful seniors will be looking forward to their next chapter. To me, nothing is more perfect than to see all of our hard work come to fruition in one night where we are one giant big dance family.
We invite you all to come and enjoy Saturday night with our dance family! And, if you are coming to our showcase please keep these things in mind:
- I will cry and so will others. It's ok. It's natural. Don't be alarmed. Haha
- General Admission Doors open at 5:30. We love having an intimate auditorium. We can yell for our favorite dancers and fill the space with this amazing buzzing energy! It's absolutely awesome!
- Dancing is our way of letting you see a glimpse of our soul. Whoa! How heavy is that? But for real, dancing is something very personal to these performers, so please be as respectful as possible to not take photos/videos and give them your best enthusiasm to help fuel their confidence.
- It will be a late night. Make your dinner plans according. (OG, anyone? haha)
- I will shamelessly plug our summer classes/camps/workshops... only because I'm so stinking excited about them! I mean really? Check them out here: Summer classes/camps/workshops... I mean could there be anymore WOW moments in one summer?
Write it in your calendar, set a Google reminder, or put a post it note on your fridge, whatever! Just come out to Grantham Middle School! Our 2nd Annual Showcase starts at 6pm on Saturday! We can't wait to see you there!
