The Owner

"I have the BEST career in the world.  I am a dance teacher!  I am so excited that I get to share with my students something that I found a passion for when I was young and I want to help them do the same.  It is one of the best feelings to have a student tell me they want to become a dance teacher because I inspired them, or when they give me hand written notes, or when they say 'this song came on the radio and I thought about you' because I know it's not really about me... it's about their growing love for dance"        Megan Hoyle

Megan Hoyle began her training at Ms. Renee’s Dance Studio, her mother’s dance studio located in Sanford NC.  The more Megan heard stories about the great dancers and teachers before her, the more her interest grew.  She knew she had a passion to create those same wonderful experiences for her students. She expanded her training to learn from the great artists of today and her devotion grew to this: Legacy Dance Project.  Megan has studied at the Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop at the University of Colorado and graduated from East Carolina University earning a BFA in Dance Performance.  Upon graduating, she interned at the renowned Broadway Dance Center in New York City and with the Monica Bill Barnes Dance Company.

Since then, Megan has furthered her education by attending specialized workshops/seminars that focus on dance education.  She continually engages in her own learning so that she can provide Legacy Dance Project students with a memorable and strong foundation of dance technique.  Her performing experiences include numerous competitions, the off-Broadway tap show “Break the Floor”, East Carolina University dance concerts, and the ECU Dance Team.  Megan also lived her dream by performing at Dance New Amsterdam in New York City.  Some instructors she has worked with are Sheila Barker, Monica Bill Barnes, Nick Bass, Rodger Belman, Tommi Galaska, Jessica Hendricks, Luam, Mike Minery, Galina Panova, Gil Stroming, Shea Sullivan, and Kat Wildish.  Megan began teaching at the age of eighteen at Ms. Renee’s Dance studio, has taught at Studio 5 Dance Company, the Carrboro Arts Center, and at most recently at Dance Etc in Kinston NC.  She also choreographed for her own dance company, Dior Dance.

Megan’s choreography has received numerous awards including Most Entertaining, Highest Score, and Best Choreography.  She is ready to share her knowledge and passion with a new generation of dancers and pass along the invaluable lessons she learned through her dance journey.  Some of her past dancers have gone on to join college dance companies, university dance teams, and still find the love of dance in their own lives... their own legacies.
