Live, Love, Leave a Legacy - A Blog

As the owner of Legacy Dance Project, art in general has always been something I've loved!  I double majored in college in Dance Performance and English.  There will be typos and misspelled words.  But there will be a joy of dance, the adventures of owning a studio, and my journey trying to create a legacy full of life and love for my students.  We will share aspects of the dance studio, our dance classes, and the community events around Goldsboro NC.  Happy dancing everyone!

Proof our Sweet Petite Program won't Disappoint.

So begins our 2017-2018 and it's a particularly unbelievable one for me this year... because my little girl started dance this year.  I'm sure it will be a challenge to make the adjustment, as with any mom and little dancer... one that I don't know if I'm quite prepared for... but aside from that little tid bit... I AM ABSOLUTELY STOKED ABOUT THIS YEAR!  

One of my favorite joys of a new year is seeing the Petite Dancers start to embrace the fun and fabulous-ness of dance.  Now, for some tiny dancers (mine included) it's their first taste of a "real" dance or class in general.  I try my very best (unless they are about to hurt themselves or someone else) to let them explore creatively through structured movement within the space.  Starting anything new is exciting!  And of course, I want that thrill of new twirly dresses and tappy shoes to push them to do great in class.  While letting them go a little nuts the first week or so, we reward with stickers, prizes, and special extras for those that are doing an extra good job of listening and executing moves.  The transition to stricter instruction happens in the most professional but positive way... almost unnoticeable to the naked eye, hahaha, but with help and support from the assistant teacher and from parents its pretty seamless.

I'm extremely proud of these little nuggets this first week... The Sweet Petite Tappers learned about their toes and heels, counting, and brushes!!!! The Sweet Petite Ballerinas learned "#1", did ballerina walks, and passes across the floor!!!! What a busy week!  Here are the tiny dancers excited with their first dance handout...

We also have a special treat coming up for ANY kindergarten through 2nd graders... our "I LOVE DANCE" Event.  We will be exploring all tap, jazz, hip hop, and ballet genres for beginner and beginner/intermediate dancers.  We will also have special guests popping into the studio throughout the day to help facilitate and nurture their love of dance.  We'll end our day with a glow in the dark dance party and a dance movie.  So be sure to bring your friends... it's going to be a sweet and sassy time!
